The beginning of all things

This is the post excerpt.

Welcome to my blog and thank you for coming. Pour yourself a beverage, find a cosy chair and come with me as I open the door into my journey to life. I had this idea to start a blog a couple of years ago but never did, I guess I wasn’t in the season for writing. Today I went to visit a friend from Korea and she was telling me about her blog that she writes to inspire other Koreans who are living abroad. As she was speaking to me it sparked that desire to want to start a blog so here I am.

The purpose of my blog is to write and share with others about my faith as a Christian and my journey to where I am now and where I’m going. I love God with all of my heart and being and as most Christians I know have endured many hardships, tests and trials, yet the common theme is that God is the source that they can rely on to keep going in life and in their walk of faith. I want to inspire you and encourage you and to share my thoughts and feelings.

My journey has been a very long, painful, confusing and difficult journey, yet for the first time in my life I feel as though my life has just begun. I finally feel as though I’m starting to live, like I can stand with my arms stretched out wide, head up towards the sky smile and take a big breath of air into my lungs and laugh. I finally feel more alive than I have ever felt. I want my story to encourage you to keep fighting, to keep living, to keep hoping, to keep loving. I want it to reach into the deepest reservoir of your soul and heart and hopefully it will strike a place in there that will cause you to give life another chance or to chase after that dream or to love again, to forgive or just keep going. Life is not the sum total of our pain and sufferings but what we make of it during and after the storm. I hope and pray you find the peace joy, love and fulfilment that you desire. May Gods joy, peace and love abound to you ~ Jonda

Natural health and wellbeing

Recently I’ve made the decision to make a small investment in my health by purchasing some essential oils. I’ve been so excited to see and feel immediate results so I thought I’d share a little something.

I know that the change to go natural is what God intended and what benefits my body the most. God speaks in the beginning about what He was giving us when He created the earth in the first 7 days.

Genesis 1:29-30 New King James Version (NKJV)

29 And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. 30 Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so.

So God tells us that He’s given us every green herb for food. Now obviously not everything that is green is able to be consumed or digested however I believe that all plant life has a purpose and many of the plant life that we see around us and across the globe have properties in them that are beneficial for food, medicine, health and wellbeing. So to me it’s a no brainer to go natural and to start steering away from the toxic chemicals that we have been conditioned to have in our lives plus it makes sense to me from a biblical stand point.

Genesis 9:3 New King James Version (NKJV)

3 “Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs.”

In Genesis 9:3, God was speaking to Noah after the flood and said to go into all the earth and multiply and be fruitful and again God mentions green herbs as well as animals to eat.

So much of our homes and environment has become so toxic, everything is substituted for cheap, fake and low budget alternatives made in labs and factories that do absolutely nothing for our wellbeing right down from our clothing, bedding, furniture, household goods that radiate electronic sound waves through the atmosphere to the very food that we put in our bodies.

So what can we do about this? We can educate ourselves about our bodies and natural therapies and medicine.

I in no way will discredit the pharmaceutical companies or the amazing benefits of modern medicine. There is a time and place for it and modern medicine and pharmaceutical drugs save lives. The down side is that we have developed a dependency on chemical drugs and doctors and lost the art of listening to our bodies and using our natural environment and natural alternatives to heal us.

I truly believe that a wise balance of natural and modern medicine is a great way to live.

I consider myself to be a mostly healthy, fit and happy individual. I praise God that I hardly have any illness or any problems with my health and do not take many pharmaceutical drugs.

The only drugs I take is the contraceptive pill to help moderate my menstrual cycle and to assist with excess bleeding and cramps and I thank God for those. However, I hope to one day come off of them and I hope to explore more natural and plant based treatment, I believe it’s possible.

Apart from that, I may take some pain killers when I’m menstruating or when I get back pain. Again, I’d like to explore more natural remedies.

My goal is to be healthy from the inside out spiritually, physically and emotionally.

Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 New King James Version (NKJV)

19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body[a] and in your spirit, which are God’s.

I believe Jesus is coming back for a glorious bride. I also believe that God desires us to look after our bodies. We must be living examples of Christ, to represent Christ, the church, our families and God well.

The world must look at us and see that we are healthy spiritually and physically and we must look good.

At the end of the day, we must do what we feel is the best for our bodies.

Making changes can be challenging, however I feel that with the right research, study and advice, we can all make small changes to our routines and lifestyles to be more chemical and toxic free and eventually be happier and healthier so that we can do what God has called us to do.

This is why I’ve made the decision to make a progression into natural health and wellbeing.

If you’d like to learn more then I’d love to share with you about what I’ve discovered with using natural essential oils.

So below is a picture I took earlier this morning of this new delicious drink I have come across. It’s basically warm water (make sure it’s not boiling hot or it will disturb the properties of the oils) with a teaspoon of honey and 1 drop each of lemon and frankincense oil. It’s so delicious, add more honey for flavour, or you can just enjoy the honey with lemon only or frankincense only. A little goes a very long way!!! 1 drop is more than enough. Add more honey if you’re a sweetie 😉

Benefits of lemon oil

Benefits of frankincense oil. The KING of all oils!

So if you’d like to join me on this journey to health in 2018, comment below and leave your details or you can add your email to my email list and I’ll send you more details.

Going natural has never been more fun and exciting in 2018!

On worship

Around Christmas time I went to a pastor friend and his wife’s house for dinner and fellowship. It was really beautiful having a bunch of friends from different churches come together and just be together. I however was exhausted with all the buzz in leading up to Christmas that I slipped away into the study which had been temporarily transformed into a games room for the teenage boys.

Like I do in people’s homes, I gravitated towards the bookshelf and was captivated by the row of books on the shelf. I just love books, I wish that I could inhale their essence and everything that was in them without reading them. There are so many great books.

Naturally as a worship leader, I was led towards the book called Worship Matters by Bob Kauflin. I read a couple of pages then closed it on my way out and left it on the shelf as it was dinner time. Two weeks ago when I went back to my friends house, I asked If I could borrow the book and I’ve been enjoying reading it.

It’s a wonderful book for all leaders but particularly worship leaders. The main theme that runs through the book obviously  is why we worship, who are we worshipping and the purpose of worship. Short answer yet so profound is Jesus. Jesus, King over all. King over all kings, Messiah, Redeemer, Deliverer, Healer, High Priest…..there is so much more to describe Jesus but words do no justice.

So I ask you this…why do you worship?

For me, I started worship because it is what we did in Church, long before I fully understood what it meant to worship and lead others into worship with the King. It wasn’t until last year in 2017 that I finally started to understand who I worshipped and why and that I was born a worship leader, I was made in His image, I was born to worship God, I was born to worship Jesus. It is the utmost joy to lead others into a deep presence of worship and in order for me to do so, I must lay my life down for Jesus for who He is and what He has done for me. I owe Him everything, I owe HIM my life, every part of me.

In 2018, who and what will you worship? Jesus is the reason for the breath in our lungs. His relationship and union with The Father and Holy Spirit allow us to have an incredible relationship and abundance of life on earth until His return. Let’s make the most of our time here on earth for He is looking for those who will worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth – English standard version).

Connecting with the body of Christ

I just got off the phone with a friend, a fellow sister in Christ and towards the end of our conversation I expressed to her that we really need to connect the north of our city with the south of our city and spread the love. I said that it’s great that we are all connecting with different churches and supporting and loving one another and encouraging one another.

So often, we get caught up ‘doing’ church and just living from Sunday to Sunday without having proper and meaningful relationships with one another. One thing that I am seeing more and more these days and maybe it’s just in my home city but God is placing the desire in people’s hearts to reach out and step out of the four walls of their church building and connect with others.

God’s church, the bride of Christ is a people, His people, not a building. Jesus isn’t coming back for a building with four walls, He’s coming back for His bride which is the body of Christ, it’s us, it’s believers of Jesus Christ.

So why not get together, why not connect. I believe in this day and age God wants to use the churches by uniting them and bringing them together to carry out His work. Each of us belongs to a large puzzle, a large tapestry that God is weaving together, we cannot do life without one another, it’s time to stop playing church and break out of the four walls that we’ve been conditioned into being restrained by and work together.

So start that coffee club, connect group, men’s group or bible study group and start connecting in each others homes on a more deeper and personal level. I dare you to visit another church, I dare you to go to a conference and make some new friends while you’re there, I dare you to ask that couple down the road over for dinner. I challenge you…step out in faith and connect, God will meet you in the middle right where you’re at and He will reveal to you more and more, His bigger picture of what He wants to do through your life and the life of others around you. ~ Blessings Jonda

A little story…part 1

Once upon a time there was a bird. She was a beautiful bird. This bird had no family or friends and was raised by a stalk. The stalk had found this abandoned nest on the ground amongst the reeds near the river. The nest sat under the peppermint gum tree and as the stalk walked over to investigate, to it’s surprise leaned over to look into the nest and immediately saw the outer shell of this tiny egg crack open. The stalk looked and looked and as it looked the shell cracked some more. The stalk moved its head nearer to take a closer look and POP!!! there was a sudden crack and the top of the shell cracked open and popped off and out popped this tiny little beak poking around in the air…..

to be continued…

The rise of God’s prophetic voice

GOD’s prophetic voice is rising up in the body of Christ. Why?
God is sending messages through His appointed messengers. God is pressing onto the hearts of His prophets, important messages that need to be delivered to the body of Christ.
The earth is shaking, groaning and stirring under the weight of sin and God’s people are starting to cry out. In return God sends His messengers to lift His people up, to strengthen, correct and direct us towards the heart of God, to direct us into a deeper relationship with Him, to turn from our sin, our old ways and to give us a hopefull voice to keep up the good fight of faith.
The battle here on earth is not finished.
We must heed their voices and listen. Prophets will bring correction to the body of Christ, yes, believers or people who call themselves Christians, the backsliders, the luke-warm and the fence sitters.
We cannot call ourselves Christians without being accountable to God and no…we do not have permission to look at unbelievers and judge them or compare and complain about them. We are to love them, pray for them and share Jesus.
The purpose of the prophet and the prophetic voice from what I’ve been reading in the bible and what Holy Spirit has been showing me and also what I’ve witnessed over the last 12 months is that they are God’s appointed messengers to the body of Christ, they are called to correct, challenge and direct us towards a more Holy life before God and to help prepare us for the return of the One and Only true King.
I’ve seen many prophetic voices rising up and the legitimate ones are coming to prepare the body for the second coming of Jesus Christ. The prophetic voice needs to be spoken and heard in our Churches.
Malachi the prophet was burdened with a message from God and directed his message of judgement to the corrupt priests and false believers. He challenged and questioned their false worship, pride, arrogance and dealt with all sorts of issues amongst the believers (Read Malachi 1:1 onwards)
Malachi 3 New King James Version (NKJV)

The Coming Messenger

1 “Behold, I send My messenger,
And he will prepare the way before Me.
And the Lord, whom you seek,
Will suddenly come to His temple,
Even the Messenger of the covenant,
In whom you delight.
Behold, He is coming,”
Says the Lord of hosts.

2 “But who can endure the day of His coming?
And who can stand when He appears?
For He is like a refiner’s fire
And like launderers’ soap.

3 He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver;
He will purify the sons of Levi,
And purge them as gold and silver,
That they may offer to the Lord
An offering in righteousness.

4 “Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem
Will be pleasant to the Lord,
As in the days of old,
As in former years.

5 And I will come near you for judgment;
I will be a swift witness
Against sorcerers,
Against adulterers,
Against perjurers,
Against those who exploit wage earners and widows and orphans,
And against those who turn away an alien—
Because they do not fear Me,”
Says the Lord of hosts.

6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change;
Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.

7 Yet from the days of your fathers
You have gone away from My ordinances
And have not kept them.
Return to Me, and I will return to you,”
Says the Lord of hosts.
“But you said,
‘In what way shall we return?’

Do Not Rob God

8 “Will a man rob God?
Yet you have robbed Me!
But you say,
‘In what way have we robbed You?’
In tithes and offerings.

9 You are cursed with a curse,
For you have robbed Me,
Even this whole nation.

10 ring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.

“And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,
So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground,
Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,”
Says the Lord of hosts;

12 “And all nations will call you blessed,
For you will be a delightful land,”
Says the Lord of hosts.

The People Complain Harshly

13 “Your words have been harsh against Me,”
Says the Lord,
“Yet you say,
‘What have we spoken against You?’

14 You have said,
‘It is useless to serve God;
What profit is it that we have kept His ordinance,
And that we have walked as mourners
Before the Lord of hosts?

15 So now we call the proud blessed,
For those who do wickedness are raised up;
They even tempt God and go free.’”

A Book of Remembrance

16 Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another,
And the Lord listened and heard them;
So a book of remembrance was written before Him
For those who fear the Lord
And who meditate on His name.

17 “They shall be Mine,” says the Lord of hosts,
“On the day that I make them My jewels.[a
And I will spare them
As a man spares his own son who serves him.”

18 Then you shall again discern
Between the righteous and the wicked,
Between one who serves God
And one who does not serve Him.

As we read more in Malachi 4, Malachi speaks the word of God regarding The Great Day of God nearing His return. More so today and more now than ever we must draw closer to God so that He can draw closer to us.

We must do what His word says, we must be obedient, we must love, we must tithe, we must do all that His word says to do and we must work out our own salvation with fear and trembling and we must fear The Lord.

We must therefore listen to God’s prophets as He is guiding us and drawing us into a deeper relationship with Him as He prepares us for His return. Jesus is returning soon and I want to be ready to meet Him face to face.

God is good and His love endures forever and His face shines upon the righteous. May you draw closer to God and experience His relentless and jealous love for you.

A lifetime of dreaming

From children to old age, we dream. I don’t fully understand why and how we dream but it’s something that is within each of us. God’s given us the ability to dream.

I believe God gives us the ability to dream in order to see into our future. To propel us forward and to give us a hope towards our future.

Ever since I was a little girl, I had dreams about what I wanted to do when I was older. One of those dreams was to be married and have my own family and live in a big house, unfortunately that dream has not come to pass yet but I know it will. God has given me a dream about my husband and given me dreams about my future family. I know it will happen because I’ve learnt to trust Him.

God’s given me so many dreams that I’m so certain of my future and that He has everything sorted for me. I don’t even need to worry.

I find that our dreams are closely related to the desires that we have in our hearts.

I guess in school and growing up we are not really encouraged how and what to do to make our dreams become a reality. It’s only now at the age of 32 that I’m starting to live my dreams, they are slowly coming to life but I’ve finally allowed myself to dream and have faith in God that He will give me the desires of my heart.

Yes we can have what we want but God’s word is the absolute truth and His word works. Gods word does not tarry and it does not return void. Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.”

I wondered why I could never accomplish anything in life. It was because I never had a relationship with God, I didn’t understand why I kept dreaming and imagining a bright future only to look at my miserable circumstances and get depressed.

Once I received Jesus as my Lord and saviour, I still didn’t put God first, I put Him at the bottom of the list or second, I tried to do everything in my own strength. I did everything out of works.

2017 has been the year where my dreams have actually become a reality. There are countless things that God has done in my life over the last 12 months but one thing is for sure…He loves me and wants to bless me. I need only follow Him, serve Him, rest and trust Him.

I re-dedicated my life to Jesus earlier this year and I said “Lord, this time I’m doing things Your way, I’m giving every part of my life over to You”. Slowly, God has weaved a fine tapestry of His goodness into my heart and life. 32 years is a long time to start making your dreams become a reality but in fact it’s been the best 12 months of my life for a long time and I’ve not done anything but to say “I choose You God”.

God has brought amazing people into my life and has given me opportunities to pursue my dreams. I thought it was too late but it’s never too late to start dreaming.

In fact, never stop dreaming. Never stop reaching for the stars, never stop running after God because the more you run after Him, the more He will reign His blessings and goodness all over your life. So much so that you will want nothing more than just to have Him love you alone. So much so that nothing else in the world will matter but His love alone, that’s when you will know the true meaning of “delighting” yourself in the Lord.

Whatever you dream and desire right now, God wants to bless you. Seek Him first and EVERYTHING else will be added. ~ Blessings Jonda

Yielding to God and enduring the fire

Fire, heat and pressure are all essential elements to producing quality diamonds and gems. These are also elements to creating, refining, redefining and shaping a person’s character.
You can’t expect quality and character without standing in the fire and ENDURING. Similarly if we’re praying and asking God about things, expect to be tested and put through the fire.
God WILL shape you in the fire but He will sustain you, you will come out the other end better than you were before IF you YIELD to God.
The purpose of God shaping you in the fire is to get you ready to RECEIVE the blessings, the breakthrough and to prepare you for the next season, chapter, assignment or whatever you are being called to. It’s a painful process but absolutely essential if you want to minister to others and be a leader, forerunner for Jesus.
You MUST go through the process. Be encouraged friends. God’s taking some of you into a higher and deeper lever. He’s going to put burdens on your heart and mantles upon you that will be heavy, weighty and He expects us to yield to Him, in that yielding we actually allow God to do what He needs to do to prepare us. The load then becomes light and then we start running. I see many people taking on new things now and in 2018.
To whom much has been given, much is required. Persue excellence, allow God to shape your character and get rid of self promotion, self glory and jealousy, envy, strife, doubt and anything that is not of God.
Let people and things go. This is a time to YIELD and ENDURE as God pours out His love and His Spirit onto you.
